I’ve always been a fan of experimental beauty, but what’s held me back is the price of some products. Although you often pay for what you get, I’m always looking for accessible products that keep my make up playful without breaking the bank- and also being cruelty-free! That’s where PS (or Primark beauty) comes in.
Below are four looks I created using their shimmer sticks, lip gloss set, shimmer oil and Electric palette; decorated with various gems I bought from the store too. I used my own face routine to create a base, and will state any other products I used to augment the looks along the way!
LOOK ONE: THE CHESHIRE CAT
Is it weird to say one day I woke up and got inspired by my cushion? maybe… But I’m in love with the Cheshire Cat, and the Electric palette’s pink shades offered the best way to pay homage to the cheeky feline. I used the bubblegum pink shade (shown in the image above shade 3) and applied it from my lids to my brows, carrying it down the edge of my face and blending into the blusher on my cheekbones. I also dusted a small amount on the tip of my nose to create a cat-like feature. To soften the eyes, I applied shade 9 onto the lids and just above my crease, before creating an exaggerated cat eye.
I decorated the cheeks with pearls stickers I found in Primark’s stationary section for 90p, and added a soft pink lipstick before going over it with the pink metallic lip gloss.
LOOK TWO: BLUE MAN GROUP
I wanna say I was inspired by a mixture of Tobias’ Blue Man Group phase in Arrested Development, and Avatar…
But one day I did just decide I was going to paint my whole face blue.. with Primark eyeshadow! A mixture of shades 4 and 6 were the key to achieving the blue, and I used a blending brush (you can use a brush that’s small, but not stiff) to create the look. After applying my normal face products, I then primed with Elf’s spray-on offering before I went in with the shadow. After I achieved the look fairly evenly, I added a dash of shade 9 to lighten my cheeks slightly.
I then highlighted the whole of my face to give an other-worldy sheen to the look, and kept things statement with a thick cat eye and Eylure lashes. For my lips, I applied Lime Crime’s True Love liquid lipstick on my lips and used a bobby pin to create freckles.
LOOK THREE: QUEEN BEE
If you follow me on Instagram, you will already have seen so much of this look- I’m in love with it! Inspired by the wonderful Kimberly Margarita, I first focused on the eyes by mixing shade 3 on the Electric palette with a coral shade and blending just above the crease. I added my favourite Eylure lashes, and decorated my lips with Lime Crime’s Squash and Xenon.
I drew out the bees using a grey liquid eyeliner pen before filling in the body of the bees with the gold shimmer stick (see first pic) and a fluorescent yellow eyeshadow from Make Up Revolution’s Salvation Palette. I also applied the shimmer stick underneath my eyes in a triangular shape to simulate pollen but my damn camera just isn’t playing ball here so you can’t see it very well!
LOOK FOUR: INTERGALACTIC FAIRY
This look has been on my Pinterest for FOREVER and I really wish I could credit however came up with this beaut design! I’m calling it the ‘intergalactic fairy’. Using shade 3 I roughly created a mask around the eyes and nose (not filling in the part where my blue shade would go). I then took colour four and filled in the empty space. Just like my all-blue look, I added shine with all over highlighter, and drew rough star shapes with a simple white eyeliner pencil from PS Beauty.
I garnished the look with my Primarni face gems, and used some stationary sticker gems (like the pearls) to accentuate my brows. I finished with liquid eyeliner and Lime Crime’s Thistle on my lips, and added a smidge of Vaseline on the tip of my nose to add some shine.
Let me know what you think of these looks and whether you would like to see more! Their products worked so well and I was so impressed with the results.
