This is one of those posts you don’t write for anyone else but yourself. Not because you want to validate who you are, or even show other people; it’s simply a way of affirming that you are you, and the rest can all float away.

Creating a new blog, and a new little identity on a small corner of the internet had me thinking. There’s a lot of talk around ‘finding your niche’ and to be honest I’ve been struggling with it for months. As my Instagram followers stagnated, and my blog became increasingly confused in theme, I really had to take a step back from my blog and ask myself what I really wanted from it. It had become a space I wrote on, but wasn’t necessarily as passionate about the content as I wanted to be.

I really wanted to feel confident that what I was putting out into the world was my best, and something I myself felt some kind of way about – and that leads me to this month.
I’ve had thoughts on changing my blog, changing the direction my content has been going in FOR AGES. I think what’s confused me most is who I want to be. But I’ve spent so long trying to BE something, that I’ve lost the idea of talking about who I AM. That, and becoming confused and annoyed that I didn’t fall into a niche.

Truth is, we are all multi-faceted beings, no-one is really telling us we have to fall into a box, it just so happens that sometimes we do. I think I’ve learnt over the past few months that the pressure to develop a niche and become a brand is a little too unrealistic for some, especially me! I love posting my makeup looks, but I also love fashion, travel, food and film – I want to talk about all of these things this year. And if someone simply unfollows because they aren’t interested in certain aspects of your content, who cares? It’s all preference.
The idea of giving my site a fresh new look was the perfect way to physically press that reset button. I’m firmly determined to focus on the content I love, and below is a little explanation on what you can expect from me this year!
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen I’m creating looks as part of a monthly theme for 2018, with January as #Draguary. You can find all my looks so far on the hashtag #miasmakeupmonth, and I’ll be writing a summary post every four weeks to tell you all about my inspiration and how I fared. I’m passionate about makeup and skincare but I honestly don’t feel like I have as much knowledge as I want, so this year’s facts and learning along the way will all be shared with you guys!
I’m MAD about films. Whether it’s watching them, talking about them, or reviewing them, there’s not a week that goes by that I don’t think about, or watch at least one. I’ve created a permanent series that will be released on a Wednesday, aptly named ‘Wednesday Watching’, and it’ll include new movies I’ve watched, recommendations and listicles.
Talking of films, how AH-MAZING is all this gear from EMPUK? I got some Star Wars bits, and an IT tee which I honestly haven’t taken off since I got it. Movie writing is something I’ve put on the back burner for quite a while, especially as I wanted to develop fashion content; but I’m looking into combining both this year.

Lifestyle content is definitely something I’ve grown to love writing about over the past year, and I’ve really moved away from fashion to a large extent. Although I love experimenting with style, I often like to weave that into other topics I want to talk about. My lifestyle content is going to range from travel (because working full time in travel now has me feeling MAJOR wanderlust), to food, Disney to my vlogs and I just CANNAE WAIT!
So there we have it. 2018 is the year of being passionately and unapologetically me! I really hope you’ll enjoy my content!
