Reviewing the Body Shop’s Cruelty Free Coloured Mascara and Eye Sticks

Colour is most definitely my jam so when I heard The Body Shop were releasing a range of stand out colour sticks and fibre extension mascara, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them! Here are my first impressions on the products, and trying them out IRL.

I received an eye colour stick in ‘Cusco Pink Opal’ and their Lash Hero Fibre Extension Mascara in ‘Barbosa Emerald 05’ to try and although these bits are marketed for party looks, I have to say I’ve been incorporating them into my every day looks too! First up, the mascara.

So I’m always super duper sceptical about mascaras that claim to be doing something new, or making your lashes look as if you’re wearing falsies- they never convince me. The idea behind The Body Shop’s fibre extension mascara did intrigue me however, so I gave it a try.

The mascara application is effectively a 3 step process. Apply your mascara, wait to dry then open the other end and add a layer of fibres. Secure with another layer of mascara and voila, you’re done! Okay so this does sound kinda long, but for someone with reaaally small lashes that tends to apply multiple layers anyway, it wasn’t bad. The best part- OH MY GOD IT WORKS.

It kinda feels like you’re brushing tiny bits of cotton wool onto your eyelashes, but I noticed the extension immediately- I’m so impressed. The emerald shade is also a subtle statement that I loved!

(obviously I’m rocking green brows for the occasion to match..)

Next up, their Eye Sticks.

If you’re like me, and get irritated when you’re shadow doesn’t evenly pigment your lids, or blend properly around the edges of your eyes, these sticks are perfect. Easy to apply and slightly metallic, you simply roll onto your eyes and go! The dryness that shadows give your lids was absent, with the sticks being nourished with babussu oil and beeswax, they were positively silky- and waterproof!

The pink shade was definitely one of the most understated colours in the range, but they also have and emerald green, topaz (turquoise) and a sunstone (camel) if you’d prefer.

All in all, I’d definitely recommend both products, although I have to say I was exceptionally impressed with the mascara- I take a lot of selfies with my phone camera and haven’t seen my eyelashes look quite so voluminous as I have here! and of course I’m going to big these products up as they’re cruelty free!

Have you tried any of their new products? What are you fave Body Shop products?

I was kindly gifted these products by The Body Shop, however all my views are my own, as always.

I’m loving body shop makeup and skin care at the moment, don’t think I’d be so bold as to try these products but likewise, very impressed – need to try more. My favourites are the liquid lipsticks because they’re so creamy and smell amazing! Lovely post x
