I love love love a bit of DIY, and with crafts at the core of Disney Channel’s new show Andi Mack, I couldn’t wait to get making at their event to mark the first season’s release.
Last night Disney Channel UK invited me to an intimate event with flower crown making and notebook binding with the London Craft Club before dinner and drinks and a screening of the first two episodes of Andi Mack.
If you haven’t heard of the show, it’s the latest live action comedy-drama from the network and tells the story of newly turned teenager Andi Mack, whose world is turned upside down when she finds out her free-spirited sister isn’t really her sister, but her mother.
Andi’s biggest passion in life is crafts- she has her down adorable shed in her back garden (Andi Shack!) filled with creative trinkets- It’s way too cute. The inspiration behind the evening’s activities was taken from the character’s love of DIY, so I got stuck in with the flower crowns first!
Hot glue gun in hand, I had waaaay too much fun sticking pretty flowers on a hairband to create the festival-esque accessory. It’s safe to say I didn’t take it off all night, and even wore it on the train home- I have no shame!
Next up, notebook making! This was a super simple way to make a unique little desk accessory and it only took 15 minutes to make. Instructed by the lovely guys at the London Craft Club, we were able to choose from a number of quirky covers, before adding paper, and sewing it all together.
I’ve been to a couple of events at the Charlotte Street Hotel in the past, so I knew their food was brilliant, but last night’s spread was amazing!! From little fish finger sandwiches to mini roast dinner canapes (I’m talking tiny Yorkshire puddings avec beef and horseradish), there was a little something for everyone.
And the show? I’m pretty much sold with everything Disney creates, but I loved the mixture of traditional Disney charm with the rawness of an unexpected storyline. It’s perfect for all audiences and I couldn’t recommend it enough- look out for it on Disney Channel, starting 8th September. If you’re in the US you lucky beans you can catch it on there, it’s already been released!
The experience (and the show) definitely inspired me to get crafty again- I can’t wait to spend some more time making! I recorded the event as part of my weekly vlog which will be going up very soon on my Youtube channel- I’ll leave a link when it’s live.
The only question now is who wore it better, me or Kayle?! Choose wisely…
