5 Reasons You Should Visit Dreamland in Margate

My quest for Instagram-worthy locations and love of theme parks brought me to the beautifully nostalgic Dreamland in Margate (Kent). Glitter roots applied and fave dress on, I headed to the coast last weekend to discover what all the buzz was about and it’s safe to say I loved it! Here are five reasons why you need to head down to Margate’s vintage amusement park.

From the dodgems to the waltzer, Dreamland has everything you remember from a classic fairground and more. A wooden rollercoaster is in place for the bigger kids, and for those thrill seekers the Magic Mouse will suffice. Smaller ones will love the Animal Ark, and the Mirror Maze has to be the best place to get lost!

Although you have to buy a wristband to use the rides, entry to the park is free which is fantastic. If you fancy a drink at the rooftop bar, or simply want to wonder around and take the atmosphere in it’s a great option- especially if you aren’t into the rides!

An outdoor food court situation in summer? yes please! Facing into a grassy green that looks onto the Dreamland stage, a number of cute caravans serve all sorts of cuisine, from street food hailing from East Asia, to locally caught fish. I tried the buttermilk chicken strips and chips, with some BBQ dip- I had to say I did have food envy as I saw everyone else walking around with their choices- there is too much to choose from!

Of course for dessert I couldn’t resist some candyfloss from Naughty Floss- bubblegum flavour, obvs.

Whether you’re in Kent, London or further out, Dreamland is super easy to get to! You can get the fast train from London St Pancras to Margate taking just under 1h 30 mins, and the theme park is just a 3 minute walk from the station! If you’re driving, there’s a car park just beside Dreamland that costs £7 a day. It’s right on the seafront, which means you can couple your day with a visit to the beach. Perf!

Where do I start??? Graffiti walls before you’ve even reached the entrance.. vintage decorations, pretty signage and food to get snap-happy over… Dreamland is the perfect place to visit if you’re looking to add bursts of colour to your social media feeds!

** I was kindly given complimentary wristbands for the day- thank you Dreamland!

Have you been? What did you think??
