So last Saturday little ol’ me jumped on a London-bound train. Next stop Farringdon, which played host to The Blogger’s Hub’s Summer Penthouse Party with Spectrum Brushes! Glitter, unicorns, doughnuts and make up galore awaited me- it was a fab day so thank you to The Blogger’s Hub for having me! Your first event can be a little nerve-wracking and I have to admit I was a little anxious as I was going alone- so for anyone who has an event coming up, or as looking to attend them in the future, here are my tips!

CHAT TO SOME BLOGGERS BEFORE THE EVENT
I not only sent out open Tweets to try and get in touch with potential attendees, but also contacted bloggers I knew to see if they were coming along. It’s just nice to get to know someone new and meet IRL! Don’t worry too much if this doesn’t work though, there will be plenty of time to meet on the day.

ORGANISE TO GO WITH SOMEONE
This could be someone you’ve met through social media, or a fellow blogger you’ve met before. Either way I think it’s always good to go with a friend. I went alone as a couple of people I knew couldn’t make it, but I think it’s not the end of the world if you decide to rock up solo! If anything it can encourage you to make friends more. Luckily one of the lovely girls organising the event introduced me to a couple of lovely bloggers and we got on really well.

TAKE PICTURES
I can’t stress this more! Take loadsss of pictures (and videos) of the event and your surroundings. Everything is put there to be photogenic, so use it! Capture shots of yourself with your friends, and if there’s a photobooth jump in there too, you’re guaranteed to have fun and you won’t regret later when you have a bank of visuals for your blog write up. The Spectrum brushes from last Saturday’s event were perfect for cute flat lays filled with mermaid-y goodness.

STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
Even if you’re going with a friend, these events are the perfect opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and meet new people. If you’re on your own, walk up and introduce yourself, if you’re with a group of bloggers, approach someone who might be on their own. You never know, you might make someone’s day!

BUT DON’T GET CARRIED AWAY WITH THE FREE BOOZE
Oh prosecco, I love you but I hate you. Free drinks are a given at events, and although a slice of Dutch courage is advisable, it’s not the cutest thing when you get carried away with the booze!

TRY OUT EVERYTHING THAT’S ON OFFER
If there’s one thing I love, it’s getting my hair done! The Blogger’s Hub hosted The Mermaid Cave, an awesome duo that were braiding hair and incorporating glitter into your look. I couldn’t resist and one of the lovely ladies braided a plait into the back of my hair, with violet glitter at my roots. I may or may not have kept the hairstyle in for like three days…

KEEP IN TOUCH WITH EVERYONE YOU’VE MET
If you’ve met anyone new, make sure you keep in touch with them! Perhaps they will end up going to the same events as you in future, or you could invite them as your plus one to another event.

THANK YOUR HOSTS
Whether you’re dropping them a line or writing them a tweet, thank the PR agency or organisation who invited you to the event. It’s always good to keep in touch and you may be invited to other things in the future.
