Crazy Couture In Paris

Oh Haute Couture Fashion Week, how I love you! Killer street style and extravagance to the nth degree, it can always be relied upon for flawless design. Here’s my review on the craziest couture pieces of the bunch
; stunning yes, but totally unwearable and unlikely to be seen on this year’s red carpets.

Frills Upon Frills (Upon Frills)

Seen: at Chanel (on the gorgeous Lily-Rose Depp)
The Look: Candy cotton frills make way for adorable Peter Pan collars and cinched-in waists with oversized belts, what could be more perfect?

Faberge Frocks

Seen: at Guo Pei
The Look: You know when you’re out on a pier with your friends and you stick your head through one of those caricature-painted boards for a laugh? This is how I imagine this woman to feel. Despite a Faberge egg look springing to mind, no-one can deny the decadent detail in this gown.

Caged Couture

Seen: at Maison Margiela
The Look: An organised mess of ruffles, bows and embellishments are partially tamed inside a fabric cage. Bizarre or what?

It’s All Transparent

Seen: Alexis Mabille
The Look: Anyone for a see-through wedding dress? Me neither. Let’s keep the sheer pieces for those Glasto rain macs shall we?

Queenie QT

Seen: Guo Pei
The Look: I just can’t with this collection. It’s like gothic, decadent glamour meets tacky Christmas tree angels. This results are AH-MAZING. View the whole collection here.

On Cloud Nine

Seen: Giambattista Valli
The Look: All the tulle and all the ruffles. Wow. Talk about clouds as inspiration…

Here Comes the Oh-So 80s Bride

Seen: Francesco Scognamoli
The Look: This piece HAS to have drawn inspiration from 80s classic Pretty in Pink, surely? I’m not gonna lie, I would totally rock this bubblegum pink dream.

Flower Child

Seen: at Jean Paul Gaultier
The Look: To me, sunflower should like, never be a print. But sunflower on sunflower with lemon eyeshadow and 3D sunflower embellishments is much too much.

A Hat Dilemma

Seen: at Maison Margiela
The Look: U okay bbz? Bless, she can’t see a thing! It’s like someone needed an outfit so raided an old home of the doilies and moth-eaten hats.

Bubble Wrap Anyone?

Seen: at Iris Van Herpen
The Look: Who’d have thought bubble wrap-esque textures could form the perfect dress silhouette? Me neither…  This piece looks like blown glass that’s been shattered. Breath-taking.

Haha That second picture had me laughing! I wonder what goes through a designers head when they make some of these. Like that hate with the holes in it. Great article!

I love the caged look, I know it is haute couture so should stay on runaways, but I would totally wear it irl 🙂
